Dan's Hill Plantation

Dan's Hill is a Wilson family home. The Wilson and Hairston families intermarried a great deal. The immigrant Peter Wilson, and his wife Alcey, came from Scotland in 1720 and settled at this location on the Dan River. About the same time Peter Perkins settled near by at Berry Hill. One of the daughters of Peter and Alcey Wilson, named Agnes Wilson married Peter Perkins. Their daughter, Alcey Perkins, married Peter Hairston of Saura Town.

In 1787 Col. John Wilson, son of the immigrant Peter Wilson, married Mary Lampkin. Their son Col. Robert Wilson built the present house between 1825 and 1833.
