ObituaryDeath of Mrs. Hairston - Mrs. Sarah S. Hairston died at her home near Stockton, Henry county, on Thursday, after a long illness. The deceased was born in Henry county on August 30, 1820. She was the daughter of the late General John Dillard, who served in the War of 1812. On May 24, 1845, she was married to Mr. Nicholas Hardeman Hairston, who preceded her to the grave many years ago. She is survived by two sons, Mr. N. H. Hairston, of Marion, S.C., and Mr. J. D. Hairston, of Henry county, who were at her bedside when the end came. - The Western Sentiel, Winston-Salem, NC, Thursday, January 21, 1904, page 1.

Obituary*"NICHOLAS HAIRSTON DEAD. -- Well Known Man of Henry County Overcome with Paralysis. - News was received yesterday from Burnt Chimneys, Henry county, of the death at 5 o'clock yesterday morning of Nicholas H. Hairston, who last Sunday was overcome with a stroke of paralysis at his home at Rocksprings. He was born Feruary 9, 1855, at Longwood, Henry county, Va., his mother being Sarah Dillard, his father being Nicholas Hardiman Hairston, of Hoardsville. Mr. Hairston's life was spent in his native State, except for some time in South Carolina in connection with the tobacco interests. For many years he was a resisdent of Danville, winning many friends here by his various business interests, especially his connection with Acree's warehouse. Some years since he retired to his home at Rock Springs, Henry county, in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge, where his cordial hospitality has warmed the hearts of many relative, friends and strangers. He married first Miss Letty Grasty, who died in 1902. His wife, nee Miss Rosa Crews, and a brother, John D. Hairston, survive him. He was a communicant of the Presbyterian church and always interested in it's works and needs. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Phipps, of the Martinsville church at 11 o'clock today at his home, Rock Springs, on the Martinsville pike. Interment will take place at Chatham at 3 o'clock." -- Danville Register and Bee, Thursday, March 4, 1920, page 4.
