Obituary*Funeral services of Samuel Hairston Wilson were conducted Saturday morning, and interment made in the Hairston burial ground at Berry Hill. Mr. Wilson, a prominent farmer of Cascade, died Thursday morning at his county home, "Windsor," following a lingering illness. Mr. Wilson was born seventy-five years ago in the house in which he died. In this house he had lived his entire life. His death was not unexpected for he had been in declining health for the last eighteen months. He was born August 11, 1855, the son of Sam Panill and Ruth Hairston Wilson. He was widely know and highly esteemed, and for many years active in politics, having represented the county in the state legislature for two terms, 1904-06 and 1906-07. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hallie Redd Wilson, and the following children: Dr. William Wilson, Robert Wilson, Peter H. Wilson of Cascade; John Wilson, United States Navy; Sam Panill Wilson of Detroit; Mrs. Spencer James of Danville and Cascade, and Miss Agnes Wilson, of Cascade. He also leaves two sisters, Misses Agnes and Bettie Willson of Roanoke. - The Henry Bulletin, Martinsville, Va., Tuesday, July 1, 1930, page 1.
