Burial*She was buried in Troqueer Graveyard, Kirkcubright, Scotland; Grave Marker - "SACRED To the MEMOREY of THOMAS HAIRSTENS, Tanner, in Maxwelltown, who died on the 29th day on July 1827 in the 73d year of his age AND Jean THORBURN his Wife, who died on the 18th day of September 1843 in the 60th year of her age. Also their eldest Son THOMAS HAIRSTENS Tanner in Maxwelltown who died on the 20th September 1844. Aged 47 years. Also their youngest Son, JAMES HAIRSTENS Esquire of Acreheads, who died on the 12th Dec 1853, Aged 48 years. Also JANE LITTLE, Relict of the above Thomas Hairstens, who died 20th April 1864, Aged 57 years. Also Agnes Hairstens, third Daughter of Thomas Hairstens, and Jean Thorburn, who died 16th May 1867, aged 75 years. Also BARBARA HAIRSTENS, their fifth daughter, who died 21st January 1889, Aged 93 Years. Also ANNA THORBURN HAIRSTENS their youngest Daughter who died 13th January 1890, Aged 89 Years."1
