Marriage*He married Louisa Permelia PHILLIPS on 22 September 1870 in Cleburne, Alabama. However, in 1910 census they state they have been married for 43 years, placing marriage in 1867.6,7,8

MilitaryOn 19 September 1904, J. C. Hairston is listed on list of Confederate who drew a pension in 1903 in Itawamba, Mississippi. FSL #5125270, image 31. 
MilitaryOn 30 July 1909, J. C. Hairston completes a Confederate Pension Application of Indigent Soldier. He is 69 and says he was in the Confederate soldier for 3 years and surrender in Sholott, NC. - FSL # 5049310, image 105. 
Census 1910*He appeared on the census of 5 May 1910 in Beat 4, Itawamba, Mississippi, Jefferson 70 born in Georgia, Permelia is 72 born in Georgia, married 43 years (this puts marriage date as 1867, 3 years before marriage recorded). Permelia has had 10 children and 8 were still living.10

Burial*He was buried in Liberty Grove Cemetery, Itawamba, Mississippi.3
