He was the son of Jefferson Calhoun HAIRSTON and Louisa Permelia PHILLIPS.1

Census 1900*Ira Camp HAIRSTON appeared on the census of 13 June 1900 in Beat 4, Itawamba, Mississippi, Permelia Hairston born May 1838 in Georgia and married in 1853 - married 47 years, with 10 children still living. Permelia is living with her son, Ira Hairston born Oct 1877 in Alabama and daughter Emma Hairston born Aug 1872 in Alabama - divorced. They are living next to her son Newel E. Wilson and her son James L. Wilson.1

Death*He died in 1960.6 
Burial*He was buried in Moorhead Cemetery, Sunflower, Mississippi.6
