Hairston is in The Macon Beacon newspaper, dated July 8, 1932, and states he died on 4 July 1932 at 3:40 in the afternoon. Either the grave marker, which looks relatively new, is incorrect or the newpaper was a year early on his death. My bet is the newspaper is correct.13 |

Hairston, who died Monday at a local hospital following a fractured hip sustained in an accident at the home of his son, 928 Manship street, several days ago, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Crawford Methodist church in Lowndes county. Mr. Hairston was visiting in the home of his son when he sustained injuries which led indirectly to his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura P. Hairston; two sons, General J. M. Hairston, former adjutant general of Mississippi; Peter C. Hairston, New Orleans, La; two brothers, G. W. Hairston, Crawford; and Watt Hairston, Columbus; and two sisters, Mrs. Pattie Turner, California; and Mrs. Ed Moore, Florida. - ---------------------------- J. M. HAIRSTON'S FATHER DIES FOLLOWING INJURY ---- A fractured hip sustained several days ago was fatal to J. T. Hairston, 78, father of Gen. J. M. Hairston. The aged gentleman died yesterday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock at a local hospital. Mr. Hairston, who was on a visit to his son at 928 Manship street, accidentally slipped, causing the fractured hip. He is a native of Lowndes county and a member of the Methodist church. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Laura P. Hairston, and son, General Hairston of Jackson, another son, Peter C. Hairston of New Orleans; two brothers, G. W. Hairston, Crawford; Watt Hairston, Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Pattie Turner of California, and Mrs. Ed Moore of Florida, survive.
