Birth*Alexander HAYS was born on 9 May 1842 in Georgia.1 
He was the son of Jackson HAYS and Nancy GREEN.1 
Census 1850Alexander HAYS appeared on the 1850 census of Nancy Green Hays on 16 October 1850 in Powder Springs District, Cobb, Georgia; Nancy Hayes 35 SC, Almon 18 male, Avin 16 male, Ansley 13 male, Angeline 13 female, Amelia 11 female, Amaziah 11 female, Alexander 8 male. All children born in Georgia. 
Census 1860He appeared on the 1860 census of Nancy Green Hays on 16 July 1860 in Powder Springs, Cobb, Georgia; Nancy Hays 46, Almond 27, Alvin 25, Ansley 24, A. E. 22, Amalisa 21, Amaziah 19, Alexander 18 and Amanda 18.2 
Military*On 30 May 1861, Alexander hays enlisted as a Private in Company D., 7th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers. He was wounds at the Battle of Mannases and died on 30 August 1862. 
Death*He died on 30 August 1862 in Battle of Manassas, Prince William, Virginia, at age 20. 
Court Record*On 28 October 1862, Nancy Hays, a widow, was sworn in and stated she was the mother of Alexander Hays, a private in Company D., 7th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers and that he enlisted about 30th May 1861 and was killed at the Battle of Mannases on 30 August 1862. She states he was born on 9 May 1842 and was not married. - NARA 586957, Group 109.
