| Court Record* | On 15 April 1852, Catherine Drake, the 76 year old widow of Thomas Drake, appeared before a Bedford County Justice of the Peace to ask for a pension. She states that her deceased husband, Thomas Drake, had been a Private in the Army of the Revolution from the state of Virginia. That Thomas Drake was first married about 1793 and that he died 13 August 1834. Records attached to the application state her maiden name was Catherine or Caty Vaughn, they were married 12 August 1802 in Brunswick County, Virginia. That in 1853, Thomas Drake and Catherine had children named Nancy 49, James 48, Susan 45, Polly 42, George 40 and Sarah 38.2 |
