Obituary*"Ft. Deposit. -- Died at Whiting station on the M&M RR, April 17, Mr. John T. Hairston. Mr. H. was formerly a resident of the Fort, but has lived in Brewton for the last 8 years. The funeral services were performed by Rev. FatherGardner, and a writer in Greenville Advocate notes that "it is a singular coincidence that the last time Father gardner was in Brewton (nearly five years ago) he married and also baptized Mr. Hairston, in the chapel and at the very altar where on last Tuesday he performed the funeral services over his remains."" - The Citizen-Examiner, Hayneville, Alabama, Wednesday, May 3, 1882, page 4.
