Living in Bedford and adjacent Lincoln county at that time were Samuel Hairston (c.1797-1850) and Robert Hairston (c.1778-1841). Based on census data they were not the parents of Robert Harston.

Benton County is in the northwest corner of Arkansas with Newton County, Missouri to the north. Part of Newton County, Missouri later became Seneca (1847) and then McDonald (1849).
