Church RecordIn 1936 the Elders of Bethel Church were: "James Bailey, George W. Hairston, J. Allison Hardy, Eugene Jennings Hardy, Hugh Swinton Potts; and the Deacons were Hugh Townsend, Berton Potts, Collier Jennings Hardy. The church has a membership of 36. The building is quaint, with its slave gallery still preserved . The members hold it very dear. They are loyal to the traditions and memories of the past, and regard this congregation as a sacred thing to be preserved as long God blesses them."2
