Obituary*"The melancholy death of an esteemed planter residing near this city, Mr. John Harston, by lightning, ought to be a warning to others never to take shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm. A person is safer from the electric fluid in an open field." -- Southern Argus, Columbus, Mississippi, 7 August 1938.
