| Obituary* | James H. McGregor "SHREVEPORT, LA- Services for Mr. James H. McGregor, 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at Couch Chapel, downtown at First Methodist Church. Dr. Pat Day will officiate. A private burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. McGregor, a life-long resident of Shreveport died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont after a short illness. He was the son of Ernest Malcom McGregor and Ora Mae McGregor. Mr. McGregor attended Centenary College and was a member of Kappa Alpha. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific during World War II and held numerous positions of Community Service in Shreveport. He was a past President of the South Shreveport Rotary Club as well a past President and Officer of the Centenary Alumni Association. He served as a Baptist Sunday School Teacher, was Superintendent of Sunday School and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Broadmoor Baptist Church and most recently was a member of First Methodist Church. Mr. McGregor was an Independent Oil and Gas Operator. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Mae Koonce McGregor and brother, Ernest Malcolm McGregor, Jr. He is survived by his current wife, Joann Benito Blackburn McGregor; sister, Nancy M. Gates; son, James W. McGregor and wife, Julia of The Wooldlands, TX; daughters, Gail M. Mitchell and husband, Charles and Garen M. Houston and husband, Shelby of Shreveport. His grandchildren include James Mitchell and wife, Donna of Shreveport, Mandy Mascagni and husband, Jay of West Monroe, LA, Melissa Deaton and husband, Jimmy of Florence, SC, Gennan Lenert and husband, Cody of Shreveport, Robin Dixon and husband, Zeke of Monroe, LA, Alex McGregor and fiancé, Marielle Perrault of Dallas, TX and Marjorie Mae McGregor of The Woodland, TX. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Greg Lott, Brooks May, Trey Smith, Tom Watson, Barrow Peacock and Alan Tipton.
